One of the most massive carnivores is the polar bear. He lives in the planet’s coldest areas, where temperatures exceed -30 degrees Celsius in winter, sometimes reaching to 0 degrees in summer. The coldest area in winter is found in northeastern Siberia, reaching temperatures up to -70 degrees Celsius here. Although temperatures seem unbearable for people, they are quite nice for polar bears, whose body is extremely well protected by very thick fur.
Polar Bear spends his time moving it long distances in search of favorite food – seals. They hunt seals on the winter polar glaciers formed, and here they spent the most of the time. Since the summer when ice is also melting seal hunt is more difficult to survive in this time, polar bears consume a large amount of food in winter, even exceeding the amount of three times their body weight.
Coat that covers her body is very thick and consists of long fibers. A layer often woolly and good insulation from the cold spray coating formed is covered with thick but silky hairs. Even if you believe it or not, polar bear fur is not so white. Seen near the wire has a slightly darker color. The sensation of pure white snow is on the surrounding image, reflected in sheer stripes. If you have the opportunity to analyze her body from a very small distance (which is not shown yet), you notice that under the white coat apparently found the body blackish skin. It captures sunlight and therefore heat of the sun, then coat with practically designed to protect as much heat that cold air around. So much fur seals, bears sometimes too hot, cool it with cold water swimming. They are also very good swimmers. Researchers found that polar bears can swim for several hours continuously, the distances of tens of kilometers. Although they can not hold your breath for more than two minutes, they can close their nostrils when under water.
